Taylor Wimpey Introduce a site team approach to Health and Safety
15th June 2015
Taylor Wimpey want a site team approach to health and safety across all of their sites
To allow this to happen they have introduced a new initiative to improve the communication of Health and safety to contractors and gain support from contractors to share the ownership in maintaining a safe site
Consistency across sites all Taylor Wimpey sites are set up exactly the same, Signage is simple and gives a clear and concise message to all operatives.Signing in stations are clutter free, the traffic management plan is the only visual document on show.
Taylor Wimpey want contractors to provide supervision /monitoring of health and safety on site by using the 3 C approach Concern, Coach, Compliance Selected operatives will take on certain responsibilities, this will be recognised in the award of a blue hat
The award of the blue hat is a point of reference for site manager; a picture of the operative will be displayed in the site office and will be a part of the site support team.
Role of the site support team- Ensure that operatives are adequately briefed and understand the safe systems of work
- Brief operatives on specific work to be to be undertaken and control measures to be implemented
- Actively participate in proactive supervision
- Act as a coach/mentor
